5.26 AGERUPGAARD AIR, SAMSØ, DENMARK
During their 10-day residency at Agerupgård, artists Madeline Cochran and Nina Stanger created Samsø Patchwork, 2026 — a temporary sculpture and installation of woodcut prints on cotton fabric and mulberry paper, stretched across a fabricated grid of wooden frames
Inspired by traditional patchwork quilts, each side of the structure presented a different arrangement of patterns and symbols drawn from their time on Samsø.
As the sculpture moved through the landscape, it framed its surroundings in new ways, weaving together trees, grass, and sky. Sunlight filtered through the printed surfaces creating shifting layers of transparency and light. Samsø Patchwork celebrated the artists’ collaborative time on the island and culminated as a backdrop for a shared dinner at Agerupgård.
